Phased migration of an Allen-Bradley transport system of a glass coating production line / Thomas Dujardin
Titre : Phased migration of an Allen-Bradley transport system of a glass coating production line Type de document : Travail de fin d'études Auteurs : Thomas Dujardin, Auteur ; Nick Geerts, ; Franky De Bruyne, Editeur : ECAM Année de publication : 2018 Note générale : AGC GLASS Europe Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : TFE - Automatique Résumé : In the last century, technologies and devices used in industries have never stopped evolving and improving. We can mention for example the constantly increasing computing power or the always-faster communication speed. Companies find themselves after a few decades with devices that have become obsolete. Then arises the problem of replacing it with devices using recent technologies. This is a current problem for the AGC company in Mol. The devices used for the transport system of the coater are almost 30 years old and reaches their end of life. This results in recurring problems in the production line that are manifested by the appearance of servo-alarms on the control screen. This thesis is first of all the technical study of the current devices used in the transport system in order to gather more information about the servo-alarms and find a solution. Then the possibilities to perform the migration to new devices are discussed, in particular the possibility to perform a migration in several phases. Therefore communication tests between old and new devices have been carried out. The main aspects taken into account for the revamping are the technical feasibility, the risk analysis and the financial analysis.
